Summer is coming to an end and many of your part-time and summer employees will be leaving for school. Before they disappear, it’s your job to make it easy for the good and great ones to come back. Some ways to do this:

  • Make them feel appreciated now

  • Give them an unexpected reward for doing a great job

  • Give them a cash bonus

  • If they don’t plan to come back, tell them you’re counting on their help to find their replacement

  • Keep in touch during the year

  • If you can use them during the holidays, let them know now

  • Don’t let them quit; put them on a leave of absence
