Never Quit Training

Adequate training means constant training. Great employees can never be over-trained and good employees need continuous reinforcement. Once your people have mastered their jobs, keep them motivated by cross-training them. The more valuable employees feel they are to the company, the more satisfied they are with their jobs and themselves.

Cross-training also serves to keep your good and great employees from getting bored with the daily repetition that is part and parcel of most jobs. Cross-training challenges them to grow and expand their skills. It also imparts a more complete picture of the company, its operations, and its people. This, in turn, makes these employees better problem-solvers and better candidates for promotion. A win-win situation all around.

A program of continuous training for your best employees is also a great recruitment tool. Promote it wisely and jobseekers will start to think of your company as an “employer of choice.”
