Project Overview

Phase I: Review of Current Systems

Objective:

Gain clear understanding of and document the current selection process.

Plan:

  1. Analyze hourly employee turnover including length of tenure, staffing trends, etc., through the review of all pertinent company employment data which can be made available for the previous 24 months.
  2. Review all tools used in the employee selection process to hire new employees including, but not limited to, employment applications, structured interviews, pre-employment evaluations, as well as all company policies and procedures that relate to the hiring process and all associated expenses.
  3. Analyze current job descriptions/specifications.

Phase II: Data Gathering

Objective:

Determine effectiveness of current selection process based on perceptions and attitudes of current management staff and hourly employees.

Plan:

  1. All (or a representative sampling of) corporate, district, and store level personnel will be asked to complete a selection audit questionnaire about your organization’s current selection processes.
  2. Conduct focus groups and interviews with a representative sampling of corporate, district and store level staff to determine the “target candidate” profiles currently in use.
  3. Conduct one-on-one interviews with hiring managers and new hires to review effectiveness of current selection processes.
  4. Send “mystery” applicants to several locations to determine how applicants are being processed.

Phase III: Analysis & Recommendations

Objective:

Provide a comprehensive, written report which analyzes the existing employee selection process and specific, detailed recommendations for making improvements. The report will include key learning, conclusions, and recommendations for each stage of the selection process.
